Job Opportunity – High Performance Development Director

Position: High Performance Development Director - Full Time Contract Position October 2015 – March 31st 2016


Reports to: Snowboard Ontario Executive Director and Snowboard Ontario Board of Directors

Background: Through successful funding from The Ministry of Tourism Culture and Sport, Snowboard Ontario is seeking to hire a High Performance Development Director to work directly with the 2015-2016 Snowboard Ontario Provincial Team athletes, their coaches and support team.


Roles and Responsibilities:

The High Performance Development Director will create educational resources, professional development plans, plan and execute coach and athlete development opportunities and provide leadership to the snowboard community.


The High Performance Development Director will be responsible for but not limited to

• Completion of an updated High Performance Management Plan that will be the central component of the Snowboard Ontario organizational and strategic plans

• Coordinating and executing development opportunities for Ontario Provincial Team athletes and their coaches both on and off hill including video analysis and review

• Development and distribution of the “Pathway to Podium” an innovative online and print communication piece to create an understanding of the podium pathway

• Coordination of sport science/sport medicine support for Ontario Provincial Team athletes

• Conduct a current provincial high performance program gap analysis


The project manager will be capable of high performance program development, have proven international experience, be aware of the challenges faced within Ontario, have extensive knowledge of the LTAD model, Canada’s podium pathway, snowboard institute programs, coach pathway and gold medal profiles

Required Skills:

The High Performance Development Director must have the following qualifications:

  • A post secondary degree or equivalent
  • A strong working knowledge of the sport of snowboarding
  • A strong working knowledge of the Canadian sport system

·         Minimum CSCP Competition Development Certified or equivalent

·         Master Learning Facilitator

·         Excellent written and verbal skills

·         Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team

·         Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
