Coaching

All snowboard coaches in Ontario must be certified by the Canadian Snowboard Coaching Program (CSCP). This certification takes place through our National Sports Organization Canada~Snowboard (CS) An overview of the CSCP and the Coaches Pathway can be found on the CS website at www.canadasnowboard.ca/en/coaching/

The Canadian Snowboard Coaching Program is a national initiative that has been created in conjunction with the National Coach Certification Program (NCCP) and is based on the philosophy “Better Riders Through Better Coaches”. Courses are founded on the concept of learning by doing and introduces the tools needed to provide the highest quality of instruction to athletes at all levels of competitive snowboarding.

The CSCP’s Coaching Development Model provides four contexts for the development of snowboard coaches: Basic Coach; Comp Intro Coach; Comp Dev Coach; High Performance Coach.  Further information on the CSCP Coaches Pathway is available on our website.

CSCP Basic Coach
The 3-day Basic coach workshop is the first step to take to become a trained snowboard coach. The Basic coach (or entry level coach) typically tends to work with competitors of all ages: who are new to the competitive side of snowboarding; are learning basic skills or consolidating Fundamental snowboarding skills; are training on snow 1-2 days a week; and are competing at the club to regional level (ie. RBC Riders, Interclub, AOS series, first time FIS events, industry events)

If you are interested in learning more or becoming a coach please contact Christy Deere, AOS Program Director aosadmin@ontariosnowboarders.ca, 705.446.1488.
